2016 PROGRESSIVE SKATE AMERICA UNDERWAY

(10/22/16) – Ashley Wagner won her second career Skate America title but the day really belonged to her brand new training mate Mariah Bell, who won the free skate and took home the silver medal.

Bell, who relocated to Rafael Arutunian’s camp in early September, earned a free skate score of 130.67 points and 191.59 points.

Wagner had a comfortable lead entering the free skate and, despite encountering a few technical errors, rode that momentum to the championship with a total score of 196.44 points.

Gracie Gold finished fifth with 184.22 points.

In the pairs competition, Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier, who return this season after Denney recovered from a knee injury, scored 125.36 points for 192.65 points overall, to take home the silver medal.

American duos Tarah Kayne and Danny O’Shea and Marissa Castelli and Mervin Tran had solid free skates on Saturday, and finished sixth (173.50) and seventh (171.95), respectively.
