A strong line up of British skaters head to the Mentor Torun Cup this week, all of whom will be hoping for an excellent performance to kick off the New Year.

British Senior and Junior Men’s champion Graham Newberry (pictured) had a fantastic 2016 and will be looking to start 2017 with a high scoring performance in the Senior Men’s category.

In the Senior Ladies, Nottingham born Nina Povey, who narrowly missed out on a podium position at the British Figure Skating Championships, will be aiming high after skating well in recent months.

Robynne Tweedale and Joseph Buckland will be performing in the Senior Ice Dance category.

In the Junior Ladies, Derbyshire born Morgan Swales will be looking for to start the year with a strong skate after finishing second at IJS Sheffield last year.

Junior Ice Dance couple Eron Westwood and Joy Davis will hope that they can build upon their positive performance at the British Figure Skating Championships.

Rounding off the GB contingent at the competition are Basic Novice Ice Dance couple Harmony Mia Pond and Peter Nicoll. The pair achieved third place at the British Figure Skating Championships and will be looking to keep up the good form.

The Mentor Torun Cup is an international figure skating competition that runs from 10th-15th January. A link to the full results of the competition will be posted upon publication.
